Porsche Electric Car
The electric car market is getting crowded. Many auto makers are working on all-electric cars, including sports car maker Porsche.
According to a 2010 report from TechCrunch.com Porsche has confirmed that it is working on an all-electric version of its Boxster.
Porsche President and CEO Michael Macht said in a statement that it will “definitely be offering electric sports cars in the future.” However, the company will wait until the performance and cruising range is comparable to existing sports cars.
It is testing several different technologies. Road testing will determine what kind of charging and repair infrastructure is needed to support the cars and their drivers.
The original Boxster was introduced in 1996 and was the company’s top selling car for seven years. No word yet on when the electric Boxster might be in mass production.
